A shining example of the scholar-athlete ideal, Ryan Greenhagen has already earned his bachelor's degree while etching his name into the NCAA and Fordham record books. Described by his head coach Joe Conlin as a "tireless worker," he has earned his spot as the Rams' first NFF National Scholar-Athlete.
After graduating summa cum laude in 2021 with a degree in business administration and a minor in business law & ethics, Greenhagen currently maintains a 3.96 GPA in his pursuit of a master's in business analytics. A two-time Second Team Academic All-American and First Team Academic All-District selection, he is a three-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree.
This season, Greenhagen ranks second on the Rams and third in the Patriot League with 68 tackles. He is also second on the team with 2.5 sacks and third on the team with five tackles for loss. The 2022 team captain has led No. 22 Fordham to a 6-1 record as they sit second in the conference standings with a 2-0 Patriot League record.
Despite appearing in just five games in 2021 due to a season-ending injury, Greenhagen still finished second on the Rams with 102 tackles, including an NCAA Division I single-game record 31 tackles against Nebraska. During the 2020-21 pandemic season, the Sparta, New Jersey, native was named a STATS FCS First Team All-American and the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with 11 tackles per game.
A three-time All-Patriot League performer, Greenhagen earned First Team accolades in 2020-21 and 2019 and Second Team laurels in 2018. HERO Sports named him a Sophomore All-American in 2019 and a Freshman All-American in 2018. He holds the Fordham record for career tackles for loss (46), and he is currently second in school history in both career tackles (380) and solo tackles (223).
Greenhagen is heavily involved with all football community service projects, including reading to local elementary school students and sending virtual messages to students during the COVID pandemic. He is also active with the Fordham chapter of Uplifting Athletes' Lift for Life charity event.
