There is no poll released following the postseason. The NFF automatically awards its MacArthur Bowl National Championship Trophy to the winner of the College Football Playoff National Championship.
 
Since the 2014 college football season, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF) have jointly conducted a weekly major-college football poll during the season, officially known as the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll.
 
The decision to conduct the new poll was announced in February 2014 at the conclusion of the 2013 season and the end of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) era. Longtime partners since the formation of the two organizations in the 1940s, the FWAA and NFF voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision.
 
The voters in the poll consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers. The poll aims to draw on the vast knowledge of the nation’s top journalists with extensive experience covering college football in combination with some of the greatest legends to have ever played or coached the game.
