Boasting an outstanding 3.95 GPA as a double major, Peter Oliver has led Holy Cross to one of the most successful stretches in school history. The Auburn, Massachusetts, native becomes the school's sixth NFF National Scholar-Athlete, and its first since 1990.
The 2021 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Oliver is a three-time Academic All-District honoree, and he was a finalist for the 2021 FCS Doris Robinson Award given to a student-athlete who excels both in the classroom and in the community. The 2021 Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Swede Nelson Award recipient is a three-time Academic All-Patriot League selection and a four-time league Academic Honor Roll member. The double major in chemistry and Spanish is on pace to graduate in December.
This season, Oliver ranks second on the team behind quarterback Matthew Sluka and fifth in the Patriot League with 59.1 rushing yards per game. The No. 5 Crusaders are 7-0 and sit atop the conference standings with a 3-0 Patriot League record.
In 2021, Oliver was named a First Team All-Patriot League selection after leading the conference with 65 rushing yards per game. During the 2020-21 pandemic season, he was a Second Team All-Patriot League performer after finishing second in the conference with 63 rushing yards per game. The standout running back has led Holy Cross to three-straight conference titles and FCS Playoff appearances (2019-21). In 2021, the Crusaders finished with a 10-3 record and No. 19 final ranking after reaching the second round of the FCS Playoffs. Oliver currently sits ninth all-time at Holy Cross with 2,052 career rushing yards.
Off the field, Oliver has worked as a sales representative for Cutco/Vector Marketing and as a system administrator for Crest Technologies. A strength and conditioning assistant coach for the "Jacked on the Hill" program, he is also a member of the Worcester Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra and a violinist for Chapel Choir.
