An exceptional student-athlete, Ashton Gillotte has continuously reached new levels of excellence on the field and in the classroom. The Boca Raton, Florida, native now becomes the first ever NFF National Scholar-Athlete from Louisville.
Having graduated magna cum laude in 3.5 years last December with a degree in communications, Gillotte claimed honors as a CSC First Team Academic All-American in 2023. A two-time Academic All-ACC honoree, Gillotte is a 2024 finalist for the Arthur Ashe Sport Scholar award. He is a member of the 2024 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, the ACC Academic Honor Roll and the Dean's List. He is currently pursuing post-baccalaureate work.
The leader of the defensive line, Gillotte led Louisville to a 10-4 record in 2023, appearing in the ACC Championship Game against Florida State. The Cards finished second in the ACC and No. 19 in the national polls. Gillotte's efforts have helped the Cards appear in three consecutive bowl games, including a win in the 2022 Fenway Bowl. Louisville is currently 4-3 through Week 8 of the 2024 season.
A Second Team All-America selection in 2023, Gillotte career totals currently include 105 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 23 sacks (placing him 9th in school history), one pass breakup, three force fumbles and three fumble recovery. His 11 sacks in 2023 led the ACC and placed him eighth nationally last season. His performance in 2023 earned him First Team All-ACC honors, and he finished as the runner-up for the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He was an Honorable Mention All-ACC selection in 2022.
Active in the community, Gillotte set up a program to donate game tickets to the military, and he has donated most of his NIL money to the West End School and the Dare to Care Food Bank. He represented the Cards during ACC Media Days.
