A four-year letterman at defensive tackle for Angelo State (Texas), Curry Dawson led the Rams to a 25-16 record and three Lone Star Conference South titles. A Second Team All-American and two-time First Team All-LSC selection, he was named the conference’s Defensive Lineman of the Year. Dawson also excelled in track & field, claiming NCAA DII National Championships in discus in 2000 and 2001, and the shot put in 2001.He is a member of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Hall of Fame.

Compiling a 3.63 GPA, Dawson was an Academic All-American and three-time Academic All-LSC selection. He earned his bachelor’s from Angelo State in 2001 and his master’s from Angelo State in 2005. From 2002-03, he appeared on the rosters of the Chicago Bears, Houston Texans and St. Louis Rams. In 2012, Dawson was inducted into the Angelo State Sports Hall of Honor.
