A three-year starter at Saint Joseph’s (Ind.), wide receiver Varon Cantrell was one of the school’s most talented punt returners, ranking 10th in the nation in 1999 with a 17.2 return average. He also registered 60 receiving yards and 88 rushing yards, earning team captain honors for the 2000 season. Compiling a 3.8 GPA in biology and chemistry, Cantrell was named the school’s Senior of the Year and received the Trustee’s Natural Science Award. He earned his M.D. from Indiana University and is currently a pediatrician at HealthNet West Health Center in Indianapolis. Cantrell also serves as a preceptor for internal medicine and pediatrics at Indiana University.
