A four-year starter at linebacker for Iowa State, David Brcka accumulated 284 career tackles, eight tackles for loss and two sacks. A two-year team captain, he ranks second in school history in single-season tackles by a freshman (127). Brcka’s first-year performance earned him captaincy as a sophomore, just the second time in program history and the first in 104 years. A First Team Academic All-American and four-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, he made the Dean’s List every year. Brcka earned his M.D. from the University of Iowa and completed his residency at the Orlando Regional Healthcare System. After completing a fellowship at the Minnesota Orthopedic Sports Medicine Institute, he joined the Sports Medicine Institute in Clermont, Fla. Brcka now serves as an Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in sports medicine at OrthoAtlanta in Georgia.
