A three-year starting quarterback at Northern Colorado, Corte McGuffey holds virtually every school passing and quarterback rushing record. The winner of the 1999 Harlon Hill Trophy as the best player in Division II, he completed 620-of-991 passes for 93 touchdowns and 8,766 yards in his career along with 281 carries for 956 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. A consensus First Team All-American and two-time First Team All-NCC selection, McGuffey led the Bears to a 35-6 record, three North Central Conference titles and a national championship in 1997. He completed 56-of-86 passes for 794 yards and six touchdowns along with 37 carries for 77 yards and two touchdowns in Northern Colorado’s national title run. In 2007, McGuffey’s No. 12 was retired by the school. A two-time Academic All-American of the Year and Academic All-NCC selection, McGuffey made the Dean’s List every semester as a biochemistry major. He graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 2006 and opened Bear Tooth Dental, P.C., in Greeley, Colo., later that year.
