A three-year starter at center for Northwestern State, Bill Broussard led the Demons to a 23-14 record, two Southland Conference titles and an appearance in the 1998 FCS Semifinals. A two-time All-American and All-Southland Conference selection, he helped the Demons set over 20 offensive school records. The recipient of the Joe Delaney Memorial Leadership Award, Broussard was active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and served on the executive board of the Boys and Girls Club. An English and writing major, he made the Dean’s List six semesters. Broussard was named to the Northwestern State All-Century team. He earned his master's in 2002 and doctorate in rhetoric, composition and the teaching of the English language in 2007 from the University of Arizona.

Broussard returned to his alma mater to serve as associate athletic director for external relations as well as the executive director of the Northwestern State Athletic Association in 2007. He also taught journalism and communications classes. After one year as the director of athletics for Centenary College (La.) from 2011-12, Broussard was named the director of athletics for Southern University. In 2015, he was named an assistant to the president for institutional advancement.
