A four-year letterman at center for Butler, Nick Batalis paved the way for three different 1,000-yard rushers. A two-time First Team All-Pioneer Football League selection, he was named the team’s offensive MVP in 1998. Compiling a 3.8 GPA in biology, Batalis was named an Academic All-American and was a member of the Butler Academic Society. He earned his M.D. from Indiana University in 2003 and completed his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2007. After a forensic pathology fellowship at UT Southwestern in Dallas, he returned to MUSC as an associate professor of the department of pathology and laboratory medicine.
