A two-year starter at quarterback for Iowa State, Todd Bandhauer holds school records for single-season touchdown passes (20) and consecutive games with a touchdown pass (10). He also holds school records for single-game pass attempts and touchdowns after throwing for five touchdowns on 62 pass attempts in a 54-33 loss to Texas in 1998. A two-year team captain, he was the team leader in passing yards in 1997 (2,514) and 1998 (2,206) and led the Big 12 in passing yards in 1997. A two-time Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection, Bandhauer ranks third in school history in career touchdown passes (40); fifth in career passing yards (5,234); sixth in career completions (404); and seventh in career total offense (4,763).

A two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, he compiled a 3.6 GPA in mechanical engineering and was a member of Tau Beta Phi and Phi Tau Sigma. Bandhauer received his master’s in mechanical engineering from Iowa State in 2002 and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech in 2011.

He is currently the Director of Research, End Market, and Commercialization Hub CoLab​ housed at the EECL, which currently includes 12 graduate and undergraduate students.
