Compiling a 3.97 GPA in biology at Augustana College (S.D.), center Thayne Munce was a First Team Academic All-American and three-time Academic All-North Central Conference selection. A member of the Dean’s List every semester, he was listed in Who’s Who in Colleges and Universities. A captain of the 1997 Vikings, Munce earned Honorable Mention All-NCC honors. He earned his Ph.D. in kinesiology at Penn State and is currently an associate director of the Sanford Sports Science Institute. Munce is also an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and a research scientist with the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital.
