A four-year star as a wide receiver and return specialist for Stanford, Damon Dunn was the team leader in receiving yards in 1996 (515) and in punt returns in 1995 (15). Dunn caught 95 passes for 1,071 yards and four touchdowns in his Cardinal career. The team leader in kickoff returns in 1994 (17), 1995 (22), 1996 (16) and 1997 (21), he ranks third in school history in career kickoff returns (76) and career kickoff return yards (2,067). Dunn holds school records for longest kickoff return (100) and career kickoff return touchdowns (3). A First Team All-Pac-10 selection, he was selected to play in the Blue-Gray All-Star Classic and the Hula Bowl. Compiling a 3.0 GPA in public policy, Dunn was a First Team Academic All-Pac-10 selection. He appeared on the rosters of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1998, the Cleveland Browns in 1999 and 2000 and the Dallas Cowboys in 2001.

After retiring from the NFL, Dunn and his former Stanford roommate became partners in a real-estate company based in Irvine, Calif. In 2009, Dunn announced that he would run for California Secretary of State. He also ran for mayor of Long Beach, Calif., in 2014. While in the NFL, Dunn worked with the Make-a-Wish Foundation visiting kids with terminal diseases. He started the Fighting Giants Ministry that ministers to children with life changing injuries. Dunn has also worked with St. Augustine Soup Kitchen, the Cops-N-Kids program and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He served as president of his local Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter and has spoken nationally at FCA events. Dunn is also a licensed Baptist minister and a member of Antioch Church of Long Beach.
