1A four-year starter at offensive tackle for The Citadel, Derek Beres was a three-time All-Southern Conference selection and the Bulldogs’ team captain in 1996. Compiling a 3.8 GPA in finance, he was a five-time member of the Dean’s List and three-time recipient of the Gold Star Award, Citadel’s highest academic honor. A two-time Academic All-American, Beres was presented the Brigadier Award for Most Outstanding Student-Athlete. He is currently the managing director for William Blair, a leading full-service investment bank and asset management firm in Charlotte, N.C.
