A four year starter at linebacker for North Dakota, two-time team captain Tim Tibesar led the team to a 36-11 record, three NCC titles and two appearances in the Division II Semifinals. A consensus First Team All-American and two-time First Team All-North Central Conference selection, he ranks second in school history in career assisted tackles (315) and career total tackles (428), fifth in single-season assisted tackles (90) and eighth in single-season total tackles (119). A First Team Academic All-American and four-time Academic All-NCC selection, Tibesar was the 1996 NCC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, compiling a perfect 4.0 GPA in economics.

After serving as a defensive coordinator at his alma mater and Kansas State, Tibesar took a job as the linebackers coach for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League, helping them to two consecutive Grey Cups in 2009 and 2010. In 2012, he served as the defensive coordinator for Purdue, who led the Big Ten in interceptions, forced fumbles and takeaways that season. Tibesar spent one season each as the linebackers coach for the Chicago Bears and a defensive consultant at Northwestern and is currently the outside linebackers coach for the University of Wisconsin.
