A four-year letterman at guard under College Football Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno at Penn State, co-captain Jeff Hartings helped the Nittany Lions to a 38-10 record, a Big Ten title and victories in the 1994 Citrus Bowl, 1995 Rose Bowl and 1996 Outback Bowl. A two-time First Team All-American and All-Big Ten selection, he received the Maginnis Memorial Award as the team’s most outstanding offensive lineman. A two-time First Team Academic All-American and three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Hartings compiled a 3.24 GPA in marketing. Hartings was selected in the first round (23rd overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions and started at guard for the Lions from 1996-2000. He signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2001 season and started at guard for the Steelers from 2001-06. A two-time All-Pro selection, Hartings was selected to the AFC Pro Bowl squad in 2004 and 2005. He also helped the Steelers to a victory in Super Bowl XL.
