A three-time All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference selection, Winona State free safety Nathan Gruber holds the school record for career interceptions (25) and ranks second in school history in career interception yards (275). A Second Team All-American, he ranks second in program history in single-season punt returns (28); third in career punt returns (58) and punt return yardage (604); fourth in single-season interceptions (8); fifth in single-season punt return yardage (248); and ninth in single-season interception yards (110). In 1993, Gruber led the Warriors to a 7-4 record, their second consecutive NSIC title and the school’s only appearance in the NAIA Playoffs. In 2007, he was inducted into the Winona State Athletics Hall of Fame.

A two-time First Team Academic All-American, he compiled a 3.8 GPA in composite materials engineering and made the Dean’s List all but one semester. The recipient of the Winona State University Foundation Scholarship Award and the Marguerita Snesrud Scholarship Award, Gruber volunteered as a tutor and was a member of the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineers and the Society of Plastics Engineers. He earned his MBA from the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) and is currently the director of new product development for Regal Beloit, a leading manufacturer of electric motors, mechanical and electrical motion controls and power generation products in Beloit, Wis.
