The co-captain of the 1981 Missouri football team, Grant Darkow was a four-year linebacker for the Tigers, helping them to a 31-17 record and four bowl appearances. He was named the Defensive MVP of the 1980 Liberty Bowl after recording nine tackles in a 28-25 loss to Purdue. Darkow finished with 122 total tackles that year, ranking 15th in school history. He ranks 17th in school history in career tackles (294) and also had four interceptions, with one returned for a touchdown.

Boasting a 3.67 GPA in biology, Darkow made the Dean’s List every semester and served on the Chancellor’s Committee for Equal Opportunity in Athletics and Advisory Committee for Athletic Academic Counseling Unit. He earned his M.D. from Missouri in 1989 and completed his residency at Missouri in 1993. Darkow is currently a pathologist in Columbia, Mo., at Boyce & Bynum Pathology Labs.
