The North Carolina State team leader in punting in 1980 and 1981, Calvin Warren ranks sixth in school history in career punt average (40.2), eighth in single-season punt average (42.6), ninth in single season punts (65) and single-game punt yards (394), 14th in single-season punt yards (2,495) and career punt yards (4,708) and 15th in career punts (117).

Compiling a 3.8 GPA in zoology, he was a First Team Academic All-American and two-time Academic All-ACC selection. A four-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, Warren was a two-time winner of the Earle Edwards Award as the NC State player with the highest GPA. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and received the Monsanto Scholarship. Warren earned his M.D. from the University of North Carolina in 1986 and completed his residency at the University of Alabama in 1987. In 1990, he joined the Coastal Children’s Clinic in New Bern, N.C.
