Once an All-Midwest Conference flanker from Carleton College (Minn.), Paul Vaaler won a Rhodes Scholarship and earned a degree in philosophy, politics and economics from the University of Oxford in 1985. He also earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in strategic management from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, where he is currently the John and Bruce Mooty Chair in Law & Business.
