An All-American and two-time All-Big Ten guard, Stefan Humphries helped College Football Hall of Fame head coach Bo Schembechler and Michigan to a 17-7 record, a Big Ten title and appearances in the 1983 Rose Bowl and 1984 Sugar Bowl. A co-captain of the 1983 Wolverines, he received the Meyer Morton Award as the most improved player in spring practices. A two-time First Team Academic All-America and Academic All-Big Ten selection, Humphries compiled a 3.78 GPA in engineering science and received the Dr. Arthur D. Robinson Scholarship Award as Michigan’s top senior scholar-athlete.

He was selected in the third round (71st overall) of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, appearing in 25 games for the Bears from 1984-86. Humphries was a member of the Super Bowl XX champion Bears in 1985. He was traded to the Broncos in 1987, starting seven games for Denver and helping them to Super Bowl XXII. In 1993, Humphries earned his M.D. and completed his residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is currently the medical director for Renown Rehabilitation Hospital in Reno, Nev.
