A three-year starter at defensive back for Duke, Bill Obremskey led the 1982 Blue Devils in interceptions (6), fumble recoveries (2) and passes defended (13). A community service chairman for the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, he also served as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A three-time Academic All-ACC selection, Obremskey compiled a 3.64 GPA in economics and was chosen by Duke’s Early Identification Program to be accepted to the Duke Medical School. He earned his M.D. in 1988 and his master’s in public health from the University of North Carolina in 1990. After completing his residency at the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1994, he joined Vanderbilt Orthopedics in Nashville, Tenn., where he serves as an associate professor of orthopaedics and rehabilitation.
