A three-year starter for College Football Hall of Fame head coach Dick MacPherson at Syracuse, Tony Romano was the Orange’s leading tackler from 1981-83. The only player in program history with three seasons of 150+ total tackles, he ranks second in school history in single-game assisted tackles (17), single season total tackles (198), career solo tackles (313), career assisted tackles (265) and career total tackles (578). Romano ranks third in single-game total tackles (27) and single-season solo tackles (104), and fourth in single-game solo tackles (16). He holds school records for single-season assisted tackles (96) and total tackles by a senior (169). A First Team Academic All-American, he maintained a 3.87 GPA in accounting and made the Dean’s List every semester. Romano was a member of Sigma Alpa Mu, Campus Crusade for Christ and the Syracuse Athletic Policy Board. He is currently the CEO of Destination Maternity Corporation, the world’s leading maternity apparel retailer.
