A three-year letterman and two-year starter at linebacker under College Football Hall of Fame head coach Joe Paterno at Penn State, Carmen Masciantonio helped the Nittany Lions to a 25-10 record, two bowl victories and a National Championship. The 1982 Penn State squad defeated Georgia 27-23 in the Sugar Bowl to clinch the program’s first national title. A co-captain of the 1984 Nittany Lions, Masciantonio accumulated 14 tackles in the 1983 Aloha Bowl victory over Washington, ranking fifth in school history for a single-bowl game. He also received the Ridge Riley Award which honors a senior member of the team for sportsmanship, scholarship, leadership and friendship. An Academic All-American, he maintained a 3.54 GPA in chemical engineering and made the Dean’s List all but one semester. Masciantonio is currently the business director for The HallStar Company, a leading supplier to the polymer additive and personal care ingredient markets in Allentown, Pa.
