Named Army’s most valuable back, fullback Doug Black set school records for single-season rushing yards (1,148) and rush attempts (264) under College Football Hall of Fame head coach Jim Young in 1984. A member of the school’s first pair of 1,000-yard rushers in the same season, he was also a part of an NCAA record for most 100-yard rushers in a single game when Black (183), Nate Sassaman (155), Clarence Jones (130) and Jarvis Hollingsworth (124) combined for 592 yards in a 45-31 Mirage Bowl victory over Montana in 1984. The Black Knights capped off an 8-3-1 season with a 10-6 win over Michigan State in the Cherry Bowl. Black finished his West Point career with 461 carries for 2,098 yards and 16 touchdowns. He ranks sixth in school history in single-season 100-yard games (5) and eighth in career 100-yard games (8), 10th in career rushing yards, 12th in single-season rushing touchdowns (11) and 16th in career rushing touchdowns. An AP First Team All-East selection, Black was also selected to play in the Hula Bowl. Boasting a 3.48 GPA in mathematics, he made the Dean’s List six terms.

He earned his MBA from Duke in 1992 and is currently the Chairman and CEO of SiteOne Landscape Supply in Atlanta, Georgia.
