A 1985 First Team All-Southern Conference and First Team All-South Carolina selection, running back Brian Jager was Furman’s leading rusher (832) and led the Paladins to a 12-2 record and an appearance in the Division I-AA National Championship. He rushed for 213 yards on 32 carries in three postseason games that year. Jager recorded 241 carries for 1,285 yards and 20 touchdowns in his career. A two-time Academic All-American, he earned his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1990. After completing his residency and fellowship at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in1994, Jager joined JLR Medical Group in northern Florida.
