One of College Football Hall of Fame head coach Jim Young’s most versatile players at Army, Timothy McGuire played offensive guard, linebacker, defensive end and defensive tackle in his three seasons. He helped the Cadets to a 23-11-1 record and victories in the 1984 Cherry Bowl and the 1985 Peach Bowl. Compiling a 3.61 GPA in strategic studies and international relations, McGuire made the Dean’s List and was named Distinguished Cadet. He was named Best First Sergeant during Cadet Field Training and Commander Cadet Field Training, Company Commander during football camp and Battalion Commander. In March 2015, Brig. Gen. McGuire took command of the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk in Louisiana.
