A four-year starter at tight end for College Football Hall of Fame coach Hayden Fry at Iowa, Mike Flagg helped the Hawkeyes to a 37-12-1 record, a Big Ten title and victories in the 1984 Freedom Bowl and the 1986 and 1987 Holiday Bowls. He caught 86 passes for 1,187 yards and 13 touchdowns, including 18 catches for 285 yards and two touchdowns in four bowl games. Flagg ranks second in career touchdown catches (13) and first in career receptions (86) by an Iowa tight end. A co-captain of the 1987 squad, he was a two-time Second Team All-Big Ten selection and played in the Hula and Japan Bowls. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Flagg compiled a 3.6 GPA in finance and was on the President’s Honor Roll three semesters. He ended his career of North America at SC Johnson USA. Flagg retired and lives in Alpharetta, Georgia.
