A three-year starter under College Football Hall of Fame coach Don James at Washington, linebacker David Rill led the Huskies to a 22-12-2 record and victories in the 1985 Freedom Bowl and the 1987 Independence Bowl. A co-captain of the 1987 squad, he was named the team MVP and received the 101 Club Scholarship Award as the team’s top scholar-athlete. The team leader in tackles in 1985 (204), 1986 (164) and 1987 (188), Rill ranks second in school history in single-season total tackles (204) and career total tackles (575). A two-time Honorable Mention All-American, he was selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game. The two-time First Team Academic All-American and three-time Academic All-Pac-10 selection compiled a 3.6 GPA in business administration. He is currently a co-owner of Papagayo Village, a resort in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
