Kenyon College (Ohio) defensive back Kent Wellington led a 1987 defense that is second in school history for total tackles in a season (1,126). He graduated magna cum laude as a double major in English and economics in 1988 and received his J.D. from Ohio State in 1991. Wellington is a partner and chairs the litigation group of the Cincinnati law firm Graydon Head. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in Ohio’s Super Lawyers magazine since 2007, and he was chosen by his peers as a Rising Star by the same publication in 2005 and 2006. In 2004, the Cincinnati Business Courier named Wellington one of Cincinnati’s top Forty Under 40. He also has received recognition from the American Bar Association, the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Foundation, The Ohio State University College of Law and The Cincinnatus Society.

For the past 11 years, he has been a mentor to two students in inner city schools and spends a significant amount of time in the downtown Over-The-Rhine neighborhood through programs such as Saturday Hoops and Dribblethon. In 2006, President George W. Bush presented Wellington with the President’s Volunteer Service Award.  He also received leadership and advocacy awards in 2004 from both The Arc-Hamilton County and W.E.B. DuBois Academy in Over-the-Rhine and from St. Aloysius Orphanage and the Linda K. Heines Award of Inspiration and Hope from the Breast Cancer Alliance of Greater Cincinnati in 2013. Wellington is also a graduate of the United Way Volunteer Leadership Development Program and the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers.
