A Second Team All-WAC offensive guard, David Hlatky paved the way for the nation’s No. 2 rushing offense in 1987 under College Football Hall of Fame head coach Fisher DeBerry. The team leader in knockdown blocks, he was invited to play in the Blue-Gray All-Star Game and received the Air Force Athletic Excellence Award. An Academic All-American and two-time Academic All-WAC selection, Hlatky compiled a 3.44 GPA in astronautical engineering and made the Dean’s List every semester. He received his master’s in aerospace engineering from Princeton University in 1991 and served as a fellow in the National Security Program at Harvard University from 2006-07. In 2012, Hlatky retired from the Air Force as a staff officer at Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, Md.
