A three-year letterman at running back for Washington State, Ed Tingstad rushed for 247 yards and a touchdown on 64 carries in his career. He helped the Cougars to a 9-3 record, their winningest season since 1930, and a 24-22 victory over No. 14 Houston in the Aloha Bowl. An Academic All-Pac-10 selection, Tingstad compiled a 3.83 GPA as a pre-med and history double major and made the President’s Honor Roll every semester. In 1993, he earned his M.D. from the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he completed his internship in family medicine. After a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Washington, he joined Inland Orthopedic Surgery in Pullman, Wash. Tingstad serves as the team physician and orthopedic surgeon for Washington State athletics and as a clinical instructor at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
