Originally a fullback for Vanderbilt, linebacker Andy McCarroll ranks 10th in school history in single-season rushing yards by a sophomore (552) and was the second-leading rusher on the 1987 Commodores. He switched to linebacker and served as the team co-captain in 1989. A three-time Academic All-American and Academic All-SEC selection, McCarroll compiled a 3.76 GPA in English and was a member of the Dean’s List, Gamma Beta Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta and Mortar Board. He earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt and a master’s in religious studies from the University of Chicago. McCarroll is currently the general counsel for Southeastern Asset Management, Inc., in Memphis, Tenn.
