NFF National Scholar-Athletes
A four-year letterman at linebacker for Louisiana-Monroe (then Northeast Louisiana University), George Murphy helped the Warhawks to a 29-19-1 record, two Southland Conference titles and a 1987 National Championship. He received his B.A. from Louisiana-Monroe in 1991 and his J.D. from The Paul M. Herbert Law School at LSU in 1994. Murphy is admitted to practice law in Texas and Louisiana, and he currently serves as a partner at Vinson & Elkins Condemnation and Land Use Litigation practice group. He was selected to the Texas Super Lawyers List in 2014 and the Texas Rising Star List in 2005. Murphy’s trial practice is principally focused on the representation of private property owners involved in eminent domain lawsuits, and he is a frequent speaker in legal issues related to that subject.
