A three-year starter at linebacker for College Football Hall of Fame coach Tom Osborne’s Nebraska Cornhuskers, co-captain Pat Tyrance helped the team to a 30-7 record, a Big 8 title and three bowl appearances. The team leader in tackles in 1989 (74) and 1990 (98), he accumulated 208 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss and four sacks, twice earning All-Big 8 honors. Tyrance was named Big 8 Defensive Player of the Week in 1990 after making 12 tackles and forcing a fourth-quarter fumble at the goal line to preserve a 6-0 lead. A two-time Academic All-American, he compiled a 3.5 GPA and was a member of the Dean’s List. Tyrance earned his M.D. at Harvard Medical School and is currently an orthopedic surgeon at Faith Regional Orthopedic Services in Norfolk, Neb. He is a member of the Nebraska Football and Academic All-American Halls of Fame.
