A co-captain of the 1992 Sewanee football team, offensive tackle Jason Forrester led the Tigers to a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title and an 8-1 record, their winningest season since 1963. A four-year starter, he was a three-time All-SCAC selection and a key blocker for Sewanee rushing record holder Carl Cravens. Compiling a 3.4 GPA in political science, Forrester received the Robert Lancaster Award as the top junior political science student. He was a member of the Student Discipline Committee, the Red Ribbon Society and the Baptist Student Union. In 2015, he was inducted into the Sewanee Athletics Hall of Fame.
Forrester earned his J.D. from Tufts University (Mass.) and is currently a senior fellow for Atlas Research, an award-winning consulting firm that provides strategic advisory and applied research services to federal health and social service agencies. From 2009-15, he served as a Department of Defense presidential appointee, making him one of the longest serving members of this administration. Forrester’s ultimate assignment was Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, responsible for the 1.1 million members of the National Guard and Reserve. He now serves as the director of government relations for LUMBERYARD STUDIOS in Manhattan, New York.
