A four-year starter and co-captain under College Football Hall of Fame coach Terry Donahue at UCLA, cornerback Carlton Gray was the team leader in interceptions in 1991 (11) and 1992 (2) and the team leader in interception yards in 1989 (78) and 1991 (132). His 11 interceptions in 1991 ranked second in the nation and still stand as a school record. A Consensus All-American, Gray ranks second in school history in career interceptions (16). A First Team All-Pac-10 selection, he was selected to play in the Hula Bowl and the East-West Shrine Game. An Academic All-American, Gray compiled a 3.4 GPA in communication studies and made the Director’s List all but one semester.
Gray was selected in the second round (30th overall) of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks and played four seasons with the Seahawks, accumulating 182 tackles and nine interceptions. He played four more seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs, racking up 53 more tackles and three interceptions. Gray is currently a learning lab coordinator and defensive coordinator for the varsity football team at Lakota West High School (Ohio). In 2004, he was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame.
