A four-year starter at free safety for Army, Mike McElrath holds school records for career total tackles (436), career unassisted tackles (282) and single-season unassisted tackles (93). A co-captain of the 1992 Cadets, he also ranks second in school history in career passes defended (29); third in single-season tackles (157) and career interceptions (10); and fourth in career pass breakups (19). McElrath was a two-time All-East selection and a member of the 1991 ECAC All-Star team. Compiling a 3.8 GPA in mechanical engineering, he made the Dean’s List every semester and ranked in the top five percent of his class in General Order of Merit. McElrath served as Second Regimental Commander of the U.S. Corps of Cadets, one of its highest command positions. In 2010, he was inducted into the Army Sports Hall of Fame.
