A four-year starting punter for College Football Hall of Fame coach Tom Osborne, Mike Stigge led the Cornhuskers to a 37-10-1 record, two Big 8 titles and two Orange Bowl appearances. An All-Big 8 selection, he finished his career as Nebraska's all-time leader in average yards per punt (41.75) and total punts (167). Stigge holds the school record for longest punt after booting an 87-yarder in a 55-0 blowout of Oklahoma State in 1992. He finished second in the Big 8 and in the top-20 nationally in average yards per punt in his sophomore and junior seasons. A two-time First Team Academic All-American and four-time Academic All-Big 8 selection, Stigge graduated from Nebraska with a bachelor’s in agricultural science. He earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State in 1998 and currently practices at Koch-Stigge Veterinary Clinic in Harrisonville, Mo.
