A three-year letterman at tight end for Hampton, Tim Benson led the Pirates to a 12-1 record and an appearance in the Division II Semifinals in 1993. He ranks 11th in single-season touchdown receptions after hauling in six scores in 1992. An Academic All-American, Benson compiled a 3.75 GPA as a biology and pre-med major. He earned his M.D. from the University of Rochester (N.Y.) and completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. Benson was the psychiatric doctor for famous sing and personality Britney Spears, and he served as a clinical instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and practices in Belmont, Mass. Benson passed away in 2019.
