A Seattle native, R. Michael Briggs was a three-year letterman for the Washington Huskies and started every game at tackle as a junior and senior. A game captain on several occasions, he has been called “an outstanding example of the true meaning of athlete and student.” In 1963, Briggs compiled a 3.1 GPA in physics with a minor in mathematics, and he was named First Team Academic All-America. He was a member of Purple Shield, an honorary academic and activities society. After receiving his bachelor’s in physics from Washington, Briggs earned his MBA at Harvard. He has served as a principal for Merlin Management, Inc., since 2009.
