A 5-foot-11, 180-pound quarterback for the University of Washington, William Douglas maintained a 3.33 GPA in accounting, and he started for Huskies for two years at quarterback. He was acclaimed Back of the Week in 1963 for his spectacular performance against California. Named to the Academic All-America and All-AAWU teams in that same year, Douglas threw for 929 yards and six touchdowns to help the Huskies to a 6-5 record, an AAWU title and a spot in the Rose Bowl. He returned to eastern Washington after graduation, prospering in the construction business. He now lives in eastern Washington with his family.
