The captain of the 1965 Wisconsin team, David Fronek compiled a 3.1 GPA in chemical engineering while starring as a two-way player for the Badgers. He was named Wisconsin’s most outstanding Junior Man, and he was a member of the Iron Corss Senior Honor Society. Fronek was president of the Student W Club and the Student Athletic Board, and vice president of his senior class. Fronek had nine career interceptions, including a team-high six in 1965. He holds the Wisconsin record for punts in a game (12), and he ranks third all-time in career punts (72). Fronek was awarded the 1966 Big Ten Medal of Honor, awarded annually at each institution, to a student in the graduating class that has demonstrated proficiency in scholarship and athletics.
