Co-captain of the Tigers in 1966, William Powell was chosen as Missouri’s most outstanding junior. Compiling a 3.38 GPA, he was a two-time Academic All-America and three-time Academic All-Big 8 selection.

Powell was a member of Mystical 7, Engineers Club, Phi Eta Sigma, Tau Beta Pi, Pi Mu Epsilon and Alpha Chi Sigma. Following his senior year, Powell starred in the Blue and Gray Classic and the Senior Bowl.

Selected in the seventh round (184th pick overall) of the 1967 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, Powell chose to forgo a career in the NFL, and he attend law school at the University of Missouri. He was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and he graduated second in his law school class. Bill had a long career in Columbia, Mo., as a respected and trusted attorney before his death in 2013 at the age of 68.
