A standout defensive back for Georgia Tech, Bill Eastman also excelled in the classroom, landing on the Dean’s List every semester. He was vice president of his social fraternity, a member of ODK, a member of the Student Council committee, the secretary of the Inter-Fraternity Honor Board and vice president of Georgia Tech’s lettermen club. Eastman was also a Distinguished Military Student.

Eastman played on the offensive side of the ball, rushing for 144 yards and two touchdowns in 1967. He also for 139 yards and a score. In 1965, he was named AP Back of the Week after an 86-yard punt return for a touchdown in a 37-16 win over Navy. On defense, Eastman’s 12 interceptions ranks eighth all-time in Yellow Jacket history, and his 99-yard interception return for a touchdown against Tulane in 1966 ranks as the second-longest scoring play in Georgia Tech history.

A two-time Academic All-American, Eastman compiled a 3.5 GPA in biology. In 1985, he was inducted into the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame. Eastman received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, and he practices in his home state of Mississippi, specializing in orthodontics.
