George Kunz

A 6-foot-5, 250-pound lineman, George Kunz was a Consensus All-American and captained Notre Dame in 1968. He was also a member of the 1966 National Champion Fighting Irish under College Football Hall of Fame coach Ara Parseghian. An Academic All-American, Kunz maintained a 3.4 GPA in communications. The recipient of the Byron V. Kanaley Award as the most exemplary student and leader, he volunteered in the Northern Indiana Children’s Hospital.

Kunz was drafted second overall in the 1969 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons and he established himself as one of the premier offensive linemen of his generation. He played six seasons each with the Falcons and the Baltimore Colts. Kunz was named to the Pro Bowl team eight times in a nine-year span, and named All-Pro in 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976 and 1977. Kunz was also All-Conference in 1973, 1975, 1976 and 1977 and Second Team All-Conference in 1972 and 1974. He later earned his law degree at UNLV, and now practices in the Las Vegas area.
