Compiling a 3.7 GPA as a psychology major, Richard Sandler was awarded the Howard Crosby Warren Prize in psychology for scholarly attainment and outstanding personal characteristics. A three-year letterman for the Tigers, he received the John P. Poe-Richard Kazmaier Trophy, given annually to a member of the Princeton football team of good moral character who best exemplified loyalty and devotion to Princeton’s football interests, courage, manliness, self-control and modesty, perseverance and determination under discouraging conditions, observance of the rules of the game and fairness towards opponents. Sandler was also honored as an Academic All-American in his senior season. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and is now a partner at DavisPolk Law Firm in New York City. Sandler is a leader of the firm’s global capital markets and corporate governance practices. He also serves on the board of directors of The Doe Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides paid transitional work, housing, educational opportunities, counseling and career training to veterans and others with histories of homelessness and incarceration.
