Considered one of Indiana’s greatest leaders on the gridiron, Harry Gonso was a three-year starting quarterback and member of the Dean’s List. The captain of the 1969 Hoosiers, he ranks No. 10 in program history in career passing yards (3,446) and attempts (531). Gonso’s 32 career touchdown passes ranks fifth in Indiana history. Boasting a 3.5 GPA as a pre-Law student, Gonso earned Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-America honors as a sophomore in 1967. He was named team MVP after leading the Hoosiers to a Rose Bowl appearance against USC that season. A First Team All-Big Ten selection in 1967, Gonso was also selected to participate in the East-West Shrine Game and the Hula Bowl following his senior season. He earned his law degree from Indiana and has served as a partner for Ice Miller, an Indianapolis law firm. Gonso stepped away from the firm from 2005-06 to serve as Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels' senior counsel and chief of staff.

Gonso has served as chairman of the Indiana State Bar Association Section on Corporation, Banking and Securities Law, as well as on a number of panels and commissions. He served 18 years on the board of trustees of Indiana University. Gonso has also been active in numerous civic, cultural and educational organizations including service on the boards of the Community Hospital Foundation, Community Hospitals, the Methodist Sports Medicine Foundation, the American College of Sports Medicine Foundation, the Skyline Club, the Indianapolis Tennis Championships, Municipal Recreation Inc. and as a member of the Penrod Society.

Gonso has been actively involved in life sciences and currently serves on the advisory board for the IUPUI School of Science, as well as the Indiana University Foundation board of directors as its vice chair. He is also a founding member of Twilight Venture Partners, an Indianapolis-based life science venture capital firm. Gonso is on the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute External Advisory Committee. He also serves on the board and as president of the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation. The Sagamore of the Wabash, an honorary award created by the state of Indiana, has been bestowed on Gonso by Indiana Governors Bowen, Orr and Daniels.

He is currently the chair of board of directors of Indiana University.
