A captain of the 1969 Penn squad, George Joseph played nearly every minute of his varsity career. A biology major, he wore the Phi Beta Kappa key and was a member of the junior and senior honorary societies. Joseph’s leadership as a junior helped the Quakers to their best finish (7-2) since 1959 that wouldn’t be beat until 1984. He was the first recipient of the Greville Munger Memorial Scholarship for academic and all-around excellence. Joseph earned First Team All-Ivy League honors in 1969.
