A standout safety for Dartmouth, Willie Bogan helped the Big Green to a perfect 9-0 season and an Ivy League title in 1970. A First Team Academic All-American, he compiled a 4.6 GPA in Spanish and made the Dean’s list every term. Bogan garnered All-Ivy League, All-New England and All-East honors in 1970, and he played in two postseason all-star games. Bogan was drafted in the eighth round of the 1971 NFL draft by the Baltimore Colts, but opted to continue his education as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford. After his first year at Oxford, he returned to try out with the Colts. Bothered by shin splints, he decided to return to England to receive degrees in politics and economics in 1973. Before retirement, he was the associate general counsel and corporate secretary of McKesson Corporation, the nation's largest health-care provider and a leader in health care information systems.
